ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Formulates, recommends, and implements technical accounting policies and procedures related to inventory accounting.
2. Prepares comprehensive monthly analysis of key accounts and trends. Publishes results and educates DC and Area management on best practice use of the data. Identifies problem DC results or transactional areas and resolves through targeted analysis and communication. Reports any unacceptable or extraordinary activity to Controller’s and Operations Teams senior management
3. Develops, enhances, and maintains tools utilized for training DC and Home Office teammates, including Financial Inventory homepage on TED. Delivers training through the auspices of OMU.
4. Analyzes existing systems and processes to determine deficiencies in capturing all transactions necessary to ensure accurate financial information.
5. Develops, enhances and maintains automated tools necessary to achieve a reconciled financial inventory system. Publishes results of analyses and works with DC and Area management, as well as Home Office teammates, to reconcile existing discrepancies in advance of required over/(short) P&L adjustments.
6. Develops, enhances and maintains the DC and total company physical inventory summary, detail, and supplemental spreadsheets related to calculation of the interim and annual physical inventory results. Reviews and validates all related inventory cut-off processes for correct accounting and analysis treatment. Develops and administers publication of results to DC, Area, and Home Office management.
7. Coordinates and controls month-end Financial Inventory Team close activities in support of formal financial statement preparation. Compiles specific account reconciliations and ad hoc analysis for use in various financial and operational reporting.
8. Reviews and analyzes assigned activity for month-end financial statement preparation. Communicates with appropriate Home Office and DC teammates during analytical review process to ensure accuracy of reported data. Prepares monthly journal entries and any related schedules for general ledger accounts.
9. Provides oversight and supervision of the Financial Inventory Team in Manager’s absence.
10. Provides Financial Inventory Team support for strategic initiatives and process improvements, ex. A/P, 3PL and Six Sigma.
11. Coordinates information requirements with internal departments and external auditors, including maintenance of databases and development of required schedules.
12. Maintains team-specific electronic archives and certifies integrity of data sources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:
Broad knowledge of a discipline such as chemical, distribution, electrical, or mechanical engineering, behavioral
science, finance or business administration. Undergraduate Degree and CPA required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Seven to ten years of progressive accounting and analysis experience.
