Senior Financial Systems Analyst (User Support and Training)

Responsible for analyzing data and preparing information for reports or studies.  Work involves accuracy and the ability to make decisions within the limits of general policies and practices.  Independent judgment is used with some guidance received from supervisor/manager. 


  • Work involves a high level of independent judgment, decision-making, accuracy, creativity, and initiative. Occasionally instruct or assign work to others.

  • Provide helpdesk and training support, inclusive of:

  • Tracking and managing issue resolution.

  • Counseling Worldwide user community on the use of Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) software and on the related bookclose processes.

  • Maintaining HFM training documentation and providing ad-hoc training classes when needed.

  • Managing eTBR and HFM application access for Worldwide user community, ensuring that appropriate authorizations are in place before changes are made and that all updates are made completely and accurately.

  • Communicating all system and process changes to user community.

  • Assist in maintaining the Corporate Accounting website.

  • Assist in administering and supporting multiple Hyperion Enterprise applications.

  • Provide technical and process related support during bookclose and planning processes, inclusive of evening and weekend hours when required.

  • Support various HFM data extract processes used by other systems throughout General Motors.

  • Frequent contact with others outside the work group.

  • Prepares and analyzes various data

  • Prepares data on charts and diagrams

  • Searches out and corrects inconsistent data

  • Writes reports and summaries of findings

  • Monitors and audits reports to assure accuracy

  • Assists senior analysts/supervisor


Basic Required Skills:


  • Bachelors degree with a major in accounting, information technology, or business administration or equivalent experience

  • 2-10 years Financial Systems experience. Hyperion Enterprise and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) a strong plus.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical abilities where problems are complex.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork and partnerships.

  • Strong oral and written communications skills.

  • Highly proficient Personal Computer skills and technology driven.

  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time constraints.

  • Knowledge of General Motors' chart of accounts and organization structures a plus.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Corporate/unit policies and procedures

  • Well developed Personal Computer skills

  • Comprehend department priorities
