As Senior Fund Analyst there is the unique opportunity to learn, interact and contribute on many levels within CarVal with a focus on Fund Operations, Financial Reporting and Partner Accounting.  The role will also interact closely with Investor reporting, Tax, and Investment Operations.   This position will report to the CarVal Fund Operations Manager.
 
Principal Accountabilities:
 
  1. Manage capital deployment within funds.

    1. Ensure regulatory and tax implications of capital movements are respected.

    2. Ensure immediate liquidity needs are met.

    3. Forecast liquidity based on cash position, deal-flow projections and current debt balances and report to senior management.

  2. Work with Investor Reporting and Partner Accounting functions to execute fund economics including asset management fees, carried interest and preferred return hurdles.

  3. Assist in development of models and tracking tools for efficient processing of cash and foreign exchange.

  4. Reconcile foreign currency positions and margin requirements for multiple prime broker and counterparty relationships.

  5. Process investor capital calls and distributions working with Investor Relations, Partner Accounting, and Executive Management functions to facilitate, calculate, and report.

  6. Assist in the preparation of fund financial statements and footnote disclosures, including other adhoc financial reporting requirements as needed.




Requirements:
  • 5 + years of accounting/financial industry experience. 

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting. 

  • Demonstrated initiative in communicating issues and interacting with multiple functions.    

  • Strong commitment to internal controls.  

  • Ability to understand complex investment/fund structures, including the ability to translate the corresponding accounting and liquidity implications.

  • Natural curiosity and strong initiative to learn: Continuously evolving business environment; individual must be flexible yet concise in approach.

  • Requires strong attention to detail, but also an equal ability to understand the broad perspective.

  • Strong sense of urgency; ability to meet deadlines.

 
Desired:
  • Treasury/Cash Management experience.

  • Foreign Currency experience.
