Position: Senior Geotechnical Engineer (Department Manager / Principal Level)

Office Locations: Oakland, California (94612)

Compensation: $110,000 to $130,000 annual salary DOE + great benefits and bonus package

Our client, a large international Engineering, Environmental, and Construction firm, has a unique career/ employment opportunity to join their Oakland office. Firm is actively seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to take on Department Manager / Principal level role within their Bay Area office.

The ideal and most qualified Senior Geotechnical Engineer will have the following basic skills and qualifications:

1. Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering (or related technical field)

2. Minimum of 8+ years of civil/ geotechnical engineering related consulting experience participating in a diverse range of projects.

3. State of California Professional Engineer, PE or Geotechnical Engineer, GE is preferred but not required.

4. Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

5. Must have excellent leadership, coaching, and problem resolution skills.

6. Must be able to demonstrate ability to lead and manage multiple geotechnical engineering projects.

7. Must demonstrate ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships (Business Development).

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Prior project experience working on port projects and/or Caltrans projects

2. Strong geotechnical industry ties and relationships with future potential clients

Senior Geotechnical Engineer role and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

1. Responsible for all aspects of project management, including compliance with company policies, definition of scope of work, establishment of budgets and schedules, control of project costs, compliance with schedule, timely payment for the work, and assurance of overall client satisfaction.

2. Ensures project quality control activities are in place and adhered to.

3. Develops, reviews, and signs proposals, reports, client contracts and subcontracts in accordance with company policy.

4. Selects and supervises project team members; ensures that team members are assigned appropriate roles.

5. Provides leadership to project team; maintains a positive environment and high morale.

6. Provides senior-level technical expertise.

7. Acts as primary interface with clients for assigned projects; communicates with clients on an ongoing basis; responds effectively to meets clients' needs.
