Senior HR Generalist

Founded in 1919, Malt-O-Meal Company is privately held and headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Malt-O-Meal, the nation’s fourth largest cereal manufacturer, supplies a full line of branded cereals to all retail channels. The company currently produces ready-to-eat cereals, hot wheat cereals, and a full line of oatmeal products. The company operates production facilities in Minnesota, Utah, North Carolina and Iowa. Various distribution centers supply the customer base throughout the United States.
Function: This position will operate as a business partner (generalist support) to a corporate client group at the Lakeville location and is responsible to lead managers in the activity of linking HR activity to the success and strength of the organization. The position interfaces in all aspects of the organization, its customers and especially its employees. Ability to bring HR activity into alignment to organization goals and helps the organization succeed through progressive and responsive HR practices while maintaining partner relationships with the assigned client group.

Reports to: Human Resources Manager
Major Job Activities/Duties:
- Provide employee relations services to departments, teams, and individual employees. Challenges may include performance management, policy/procedure interpretation, organizational needs, and act as a liaison to our legal counsel.
- Provide management coaching and consultation in all areas of HR.
- Facilitate communication between management and employees and across departments.
- Develop and coordinate processes to recognize and reward employees that support the MOM values through their actions in the workplace.
- Provide general information to employees in regard to benefits, compensation, training, safety, and other specialty areas within HR.
- Develop recommendation for improving delivery of HR services to the organization; e.g. best practices.
- Assist/implement corporate-wide HR initiatives.
- Partner with HR partners in specialists functions, including Benefits, Organizational Development and Leadership and Compensation.
- Input into policy development and implementation.
- Survey the needs of the business unit and develop deliverables to the employees and leaders to meet the needs.

- Proven strategic and tactical skills. Demonstrated problem analysis and resolution.

- Comprehensive business process and systems knowledge, and the ability to identify and implement best practices.
- Focus on business partner as a customer while requiring a sense of urgency and continual drive for process improvement. Ability to work under tight deadlines and balance multiple critical tasks.
Education and/or Experience
Education:
- B.S. degree in Business, Management, Human Resources or other related field. Masters in Human Resources and Industrial Relations is a plus.
- Professional HR certification is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of five to seven years relevant work experience within a manufacturing organization (preferably in consumer products) at a corporate office. Prefer plant and corporate experience.
- Nature of the position requires an individual who has organizational skills, an ability to perform a large variety of work, is a self-directed individual with sound decision making ability and judgment.
- Strong PC skills required in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HRMS
