Highway Design Task Leader – Dallas, TX – Design Build

General Summary

We are seeking a Highway Design Task Leader with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. This position requires a preferred minimum of 15 years experience in interstate and state highway design, working on projects that have a construction contract value between $250 and $800 million. Additionally, five years of Design Build experience is preferred. A Professional Engineers License (PE) is required. The candidate must be able to obtain a Texas PE within four months of accepting the position. This position will be assigned to a Public-Private Partnership project with the contract owner being a Design Builder (Contractor).

This position requires a highly motivated individual who can manage a roadway design team in the preparation of design-build construction documents. The preferred candidate must be highly effective and technically competent in complex highway engineering and project development. The applicant must understand the technical aspects of urban highway engineering and the need to control scope, schedule and budget. The candidate will provide leadership and direction to a design team (4-5 individuals) and work with the Lead Discipline Manager, providing guidance and insight for resource planning, scheduling and budgeting. The position will also require effective coordination with a multidisciplinary team comprised of structures, drainage, traffic, construction phasing and MOT, ITS/tolling, surveyors, geotechnical, pavement, landscaping, utility, aesthetics, environmental experts and coordinate with the Contractor. The Design Task Leaders will set the tone for quality utilizing a project-specific quality management system (similar to AECOM’s ISO system). 

Specific Requirements

• BS in Civil Engineering


• MS or MBA preferred but not required


• 15 or more years experience in interstate and urban highway design


• 5 or more years of Design Build experience preferred


• Professional Engineer License (PE) in Texas or ability to obtain within 4 months


• Experience with TxDOT preferred
