The QA Engineer will be responsible for writing test plan and test case documents derived from requirements and technical specifications documentation, following QA documentation standards, and leading team efforts in executing said test cases during the build/release development life cycle.
The position requires interaction with both business owners and technical staff to understand requirements, suggest solutions, troubleshoot problems, and support business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Adapt to a variety of project team roles, such as analyst, tester, documentation writer
- Provide input for testing strategies, scope, and scenarios
- Provide input for testing-related estimates of effort, duration, and resource utilization
- Collaborate with project team members, subject matter experts, business owners to define and document test cases, scenarios, and scripts in alignment with business and system requirements
- Lead team in execution of tests, evaluates results and/or problems in a timely manner, and assist in problem resolution
- Review lower environments (Development, QA) and create test data necessary for test execution
- Assure functionality coded by development team adheres to business requirements and standards (ADA, security, etc)
- Maintenance of test plan, test cases, and script library
- Record each problem found, investigate and analyze each problem, track status of defect and verify resolution during testing life cycle
- Provide reports containing test metrics and status to management team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BSEE, BSCS, BSCE) from four year college or university
- Minimum of 5 years of professional QA experience
- Knowledge of Unified Process project management methodology and documentation practices
- Knowledge of formalized test methodology and associated artifacts
- Knowledge of test case creation and execution
- Proven troubleshooting skills resulting in root cause determination
- Automated test experience using but not limited to QTP and LoadRunner
- Knowledge of J2EE development environment
- Knowledge of relational database design structure concepts
- Knowledge of SQL statement syntax
- Knowledge of IT systems architecture patterns (e.g. tiers of an IT system, Services Oriented Architecture patterns, etc.)
- Knowledge of Agile Testing Practices is a plus
- Solid leadership skills in definition and implementation of the quality assurance process within the product development lifecycle
- CSTE or CSQA certification is a plus
