Software Methods is seeking a Java Developer/Architect for a full-time employment position at our start-up client. This is an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor of an exciting and growing industry.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

• Responsible for design, development, maintenance and support of proprietary applications that feature sophisticated forecasting and optimization software.
• Software requirements analysis and creation of requirements documentation.
• Software architecture and high-level design, coordinates and participates in detailed design and implementation. Responsible for design documentation.
• Works with project manager and business owner for project planning, solution design and technical architecture.

Education

• Bachelor*s degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Math or equivalent.

Required Experience/Skills

• 10+ years in software development
• 5+ years development experience using Java
• 5+ years developing web services (XML and SOAP)
• Experience with Hibernate and/or Java Persistence Architecture
• Experience with the Spring Framework
• Experience with JSP/JQuery
• Experience with Maven
• Experience with systems integration and SOA
• Experience with agile and/or iterative software development methodologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be a driven, results oriented individual with a commitment to excellence - must meet deliverable deadlines and work well under intense pressure
• Must be capable of working both independently and within a team structure
  

Preferred Experience/Skills 

• Experience with FLEX
• Experience with optimization and simulation software/applications
• Experience working with wholesale energy markets and/or ISOs/RTOs (Independent System Operators/Regional Transmission Organizations)
• Experience with Building Management or Building Automation Systems.
