Description Senior Lead Database Administrator is responsible for overseeing the database administration functions (Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server) of the Hosting Services department. This position is responsible for database planning, design, and implementation, as well as the maintenance and optimization of Oracle RAC supporting our production Enterprise application. This role will work closely with the DBAs, development, architecture and infrastructure teams to design and administer databases to provide and enforce contractual SLAs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical subject matter expertise and strong managerial skills to lead and mentor small team of internal DBAs.
- 24*7 support for mission critical production Oracle RAC 10g and MS SQL databases
- Provide day to day support, optimization, and tuning of all Oracle Databases; e.g. schemas; archiving; Replication; RMAN; and maintenance/patching/upgrade strategies; monitoring and overall health to comply with contractual SLAs.
- Drive problem resolution to root cause
- Drive oracle development and design of databases and queries to stakeholders involved in application development, testing and implementation.
- Working closely with development team to clearly understand the Oracle databases and OLTP concepts for optimization & query logic supporting the applications
- Implement best practices and procedures for key database and application technologies.
- Interact with different business units/groups and be the face of the DBA team.
Position Requirements Candidate MUST have following experience in order to be considered for this opportunity:
- 8+ years experience working as an Oracle DBA with Oracle versions 8i-11g, and Oracle RAC.
- 3+ years experience managing/mentoring a DBA team of 3+ people.
- Experience managing 24x7 production support.
- Experience with Oracle versions 8i-11g, and Oracle RAC.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000-2008 and Clustering/Replication..
- Strong knowledge in UNIX/LINUX/Windows platforms.
- Must be able to manage time effectively and to deliver on commitments
Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Must be able to operate well in a team environment and when under pressure
- Knowledge of Java platforms and middleware is plus (e.g. JDBC,Weblogic, etc)
Educational Requirements:
BS/BA or equivalent experience. Degree in Computer Science or MIS preferred.
Certifications:
Oracle 10g Database Administrator Certified Associate or Professional Preferred
