Senior Manager Business Development/Business Management -- The Knot Inc. (Los Angeles)

About the Job

TheKnot.com has several Registry-related commerce businesses.  A Senior Manager is being hired to manage 1 – 2 registry services, including an upcoming local registry service (to be developed and launched).  The Registry team is responsible for managing and growing the registry businesses and developing and supporting relationships with the registry partners. 


 


The new Senior Manager would be assigned specific registry businesses to manage and would be responsible for:


 



  • Initiating and executing new eCommerce and/or barter partnerships to help grow traffic and revenue for the registry businesses.

  • Initiating marketing plans and strategies in collaboration with eCommerce management and executing with marketing teams at The Knot Inc.

  • Collaborating on site development and site marketing with product teams at The Knot Inc.

  • Ongoing tracking and analysis of Sales and Registry performance and trends.

  • Quarterly or semi-annual performance presentations with large retail partners (some over the phone and some in person).


  • Monitoring of legal terms, contract renewals, etc. with Legal Council.

  • Coordination of technical issue communication/resolution between The Knot Inc. technical team and external partners.

  • Coordination of annual registry market research with the Research team at The Knot Inc.

  • Coordination with The Knot Inc. Advertising team for joint retailer initiatives or passing of  leads.

 


 


Requirements/Skills:


 



  • 6-10 years Business Development, Consulting, or General Management experience.

  • Experience working with an internet company and supporting or managing online services/businesses.

  • BA Degree

  • Excellent strategic and analytical skills


    • Experience with setting business goals, objectives, and strategies.

    • Superior ability to analyze data, graph important trends, and identify key learning’s/insights.

  • Excellent presentation/ “pitch” skills (strong Powerpoint skills required)

  • Great relationship building skills and “people skills” internally and externally

  • Strong negotiator; must be comfortable reviewing and revising legal terms

  • Excellent communication skills a must:


    • Internally - able to keep internal team informed of key issues and projects on ongoing basis

    • Externally - able to position issues sensitively for external partners.

  • Intermediate computer, internet, outlook,  MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint a must.

  • Detail oriented (attention to detail on formatting, data, technical issues, and legal documents).

  • Strong customer service skills (conscientious on follow up).

  • Excellent at multi-tasking and prioritizing (juggling multiple priorities/issues simultaneously and making internal and external partners feel important).

  • Team oriented and collaborative (as well as comfortable working independently and taking initiative).
