Our client is a large, diversified international manufacturer of engineered products for industrial, commercial,
automotive, and aerospace applications. This LA area site enjoyed 25%+ growth from 2009 and is forecast
to more than double revenues by 2016. Achieving those targets relies upon an aggressive continuous
improvement initiative to minimize the manufacturing footprint of existing products, free space for
expansion, improve productivity/throughput, reduce inventory, improve delivery, reduce setup, and
establish effective visual factory controls. The role of Sr. Manufacturing Engineer is a key interface to identify
improvement opportunities, foster a culture focused on improvement, and deploy lean Six Sigma concepts
on the production floor. Responsibilities include new product launch, continuous improvement, process
optimization, improving overall equipment effectiveness, and setup reduction. Career options include
technical leadership, a shift to operations management, or continuous improvement pathways.
This client requires an Engineering undergraduate degree (BSME ideal), plus an MBA or substantial progress
towards a Masters degree. Candidates need a minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience with at least
3 years manufacturing experience within a significant lean/process improvement focused culture. Six Sigma
Black Belt or Green Belt certifications are preferred. Prior leadership of kaizen events for Value Stream
Mapping, 5S, visual controls, or standard work is required. Superior communication skills are paramount for
success and career advancement.
