We are currently seeking a seasoned engineer with both project management and technical skills to join our team as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer located in our Chaska, MN, corporate office.
Primary responsibilities for this position are as follows:
Design, analysis, documentation, testing, support and modification of semiconductor capital equipment. Responsible for the overall design and compliance of mechanical and electro-mechanical projects involving electro-mechanical, pneumatic, fluid, control and other components. Assignments will require completion of tasks such as:
- Interpreting project requirements and guiding the mechanical design
- Performing design and cost trade studies to achieve compliant and cost effective designs
- Defining the component selections required to meet the operational requirements
- Conducting analysis and testing, as required
- Analyzing complex systems with multiple variables
- Selecting the methods, techniques and evaluation criteria that will be used for obtaining solutions
- Responsible for technical decisions, problem solving, and checking/releasing design documentation
- Participate in multi-functional teams or contribute individually
- Ability to lead other engineers, designers and support personnel
- Provide program status updates to the product manager and team
Our qualified candidate must possess the following:
- Project management experience
- Mechanical Engineering degree with a minimum of 8 years experience designing and testing electro-mechanical, pneumatic and fluid systems
- Strong analytical ability capable of understanding complex systems with multiple variables
- Candidate must be good team player and possess good organizational skills
- Must be able to clearly communicate technical ideas, both orally and written, to internal and external customers
- Working knowledge of robotics/automated systems, motion control/stepper servo systems, cryogenics, semiconductor equipment and applicable standards is desirable
Special environmental/physical demands for this position:
- Exposure to operating a computer terminal from a seated position for extended periods of time
- Exposure to working in areas where hazardous materials may be stored or in use
- Exposure to working in a clean room environment while dressed in clean room garments
- Occasional exposure to lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted
- Ability to speak distinctly and see and hear clearly
- Occasional travel both foreign and domestic
