Senior Mechanical Engineer

Balboa Water Group, the world’s leading manufacturer of custom electronic control systems for the Spas, Pools and Whirlpool Bath markets, has an immediate opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Tustin, Ca. facility

Job Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, evaluation, and modification of plastic and sheet metal parts under the direction of the VP of Engineering

 Essential Functions: 

·         Ability to design, develop, implement and document new products using 2D and 3D CAD software utilizing Autocad and Solidworks

·         Experience with Pump / Turbo machinery Design

·         Provide support of sustaining and new product issues in Manufacturing and in the field

·         Develop BOM’s and assembly drawings to allow for a smooth introduction of new products from design to manufacturing

·         Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods, confirming fabrication and installation processes

·         ECO generation, review  and implementation support

·         Address manufacturability issues and support prototype/system pre-production builds

·         Confirm systems and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods

·         Evaluate mechanical products by studying customer requirements, researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials

·         Foster Continuous Improvement and drive towards world class engineering practices and design methods

·         Support continual cost reduction efforts and maintain company reputation by complying with government regulations

·         First Article reviews, design reviews, MRB and CCB support

Skills/Qualifications:

·         BSME with a minimum of 10 years experience in electronics packaging, injection molded plastic design, and metal part design

·         Computer Skills: Word processing, spreadsheet, AutoCAD, Solidworks, Pro-E

·         Experience with developing products for wet environments a plus

·         Experience with metalworking of Al and SS alloys a plus

·         Good verbal and written communication skills

·         Ability to multitask and prioritize a changing workload

·         Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

·         Possess problem solving skills, decision making, and have the ability to drive solutions to completion

·         Ability to interact with coworkers, suppliers and customers
