Senior Mechanical Engineer- oil field downhole tools

Halliburton is looking for a:   Senior Mechanical Engineer

For this position you must have experience in downhole tool design.

Downhole Tool Development

The mechanical engineer will participate in all phases of the development of tools, products, and services used in well logging and formation evaluation.  Under general direction, participates in the concept phase and continuing through the analysis, development, prototype, and release to manufacturing stages.  May lead projects or design teams developing test procedures, conducting tests and analysis for assigned projects.  Advises and assists manufacturing problems to maintain and improve products and services.  Incorporates reliability, health, safety and environment (HSE) and quality analysis techniques during the design process.   Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of metallic and non-metallic materials and a sound understanding of the design of machine members and principles of heat transfer for high temperature and high pressure applications.

As a senior mechanical engineer, candidates can look forward to a leadership role in devising the form and function of state-of-the-art tools used in well logging technologies that will have immediate and significant commercial applications in oil and gas reservoir evaluation. 

Qualification summary for the ideal candidate:

Required:

·         A BSME (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering).  A MSME is a plus.

·         At least 5 to 7 years experience where the work has included:

o        Design of machine members and pressure containing housings utilizing conventional stress analysis techniques, including finite element analysis (FEA).

o        High pressure o-ring sealing applications and design.

o        Basic applications of the principles of heat transfer.

o        Experience with metallic and non metallic materials and their applications in high temperature and high pressure environments.

o        Basic understanding of corrosion and corrosive environments including material applications and coatings.

o        Must have experience with 3D CAD software packages and a sound understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

o        Excellent spoken and written English skills.

o        Excellent presentation skills.

Desired:

·         Experience in mechanical downhole equipment used in the well logging and formation evaluation.

·         Possession of a PE license.

·         Knowledge of Solid Works 3D software package.
