Then consider this; my client designs, develops, and manufactures liquid subassemblies, gas management systems, ultra-high quality optical filters, and precision components for a wide range of applications requiring precise control and measurement. They specialize in component integration that results in innovative and optimized OEM fluidic systems. The new Integrated Solutions Group was created to expand the market for their products and provide added value to meet their customers increasing demand for supplying turnkey solutions to challenges that are beyond their core competency. This position’s primary responsibility is the development and optimization of the company’s fluidic product solutions in the Biotech, Invitro Diagnostics (IVD) and Analytical Instrumentation (AI) markets. Candidate must design, prototype, debug and transfer to production; pump, valve, degassing and analytical fluid dispensing designs. Familiarity with typical chemistries used in AI, IVD and Biotech markets is required. Candidate will work directly with customer to understand the application challenges and reviews completed proposals for technical integrity, quantification of risk and delivery estimate prior to presentation to customer. Additionally, the Senior Fluidic Applications Engineer is a key resource on a small team to determine and carry out fluid testing to meet customer requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Participate in initial customer concept reviews to develop product requirements/specifications for inputs and outputs for company fluidic subsystems. Reviews each proposal for technical integrity, quantifications of risk, and strategic direction prior to presentation. Conducts feasibility studies on engineering proposals and related technical data for developing new equipment or modifying existing equipment for extended performance. - Designs, supports and breadboards prototypes which may involve several engineering disciplines, including chemistry, electronics, mechanical design, optics, quality, reliability, etc. Develop and execute verification tests on integrated solutions modules/products. Create Lab View programs to control breadboards and prototypes to meet application requirements. Designs electro-mechanical systems-oriented products and prepares related installation, and operation specifications and instructions. - Work closely with OEM’s and Field Sales providing technical product support and product recommendations. Provide on-site, OEM and Field Sales support on a regular basis. Analyze, design, debug and troubleshoot fluid systems. - Identify opportunities to grow the business in new and existing OEM accounts by continual survey of fluidic components to keep the company at the forefront of Life Science instrumentation. - Possess Technical Expertise on relevant company products. - Provide guidance to R&D, Engineering, and Manufacturing during new product development to ensure product goals are met. - Attend relevant trade shows to provide product support and to learn about new developments. QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum of a BS in Mechanical or Fluidic Engineering is required, advanced degree in Science or Engineering highly desirable. - 10+ years of experience with a proven track record of successful design within a controlled product development environment. - Significant industry experience designing high and low pressure fluid delivery pumps, fluid handling equipment and process controls for laboratory instruments is required. - Significant industry background with In Vitro Diagnostics, Biotech or Analytical instrumentation is desired. - Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with customers and work within a team environment. - Knowledge of good engineering practices including drafting standards and tolerance analysis methods - Language skills other than English are beneficial. - Must be able to travel ~ 25% of the time via plane/car/train as required domestic and internationally and be comfortable traveling in geographic locations where customs and cultures are unfamiliar.
