Job Description:
This position manages the delivery of a full range of editorial services, including medical editing, copy editing, proofreading, and fact verification of pharmaceutical marketing materials, internal and external presentations, and corporate communications, from initial CCC submission through final approval. Reviews all promotional, educational, and sales training materials through every stage of development, including copy, layout, and final production files through final check beyond which corrections become costly. Verifies accuracy, quality, and completeness of CCC submissions for promotional, educational, and sales training materials, consistent with CPP guidelines. Assists Marketing through Marketing Ops Sales and CCC Process Facilitator to prepare, edit, and submit promotional, educational, and sales training materials per CPP MK002 Rev 1.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Medical Editing •Manages the Editorial Department in the absence of the Manager •Ensures editorial accuracy of all reviewed materials •Revises copy as needed to conform to medical standards and to meet legal and regulatory requirements •Clarifies medical, legal, and regulatory required verbiage, ensuring consistency across brands •Verifies accuracy of all presented facts with specific clinical literature sources when needed •Conducts clinical literature Web research as needed •Fact-check claims when needed •Directs advertising agencies in annotating promotional items and references as needed •Directs agency partners on resolutions of Medical, Legal, and Regulatory comments •Provides final approval for all CCC submissions before production Copy Editing •Edits promotional, educational and sales training materials in accordance with AMA style •Ensures accuracy of spelling, grammar, consistency, clarity of usage, and mathematic facts •Maintains product and marketing editorial style guides •Directs brand and advertising agencies on correct usage •Ensures current CCC submissions conform to previously approved materials •Develops transitional language between previously approved phrases and new CCC requirements •Captures changes affecting standardized verbiage across brands and with each Product Promotional Guideline (PPG) Proofreading •Proofreads materials submitted for review •Reviews iterative draft submissions to ensure that the complete list of requested changes have been included •Proofs items prior to production to confirm changes required on previous draft(s) were made
Knowledge Necessary to Perform Job •Knowledgeable of medical and marketing language, AMA style, and proofreading marks and symbols, and
Essential Skills:
BA in communications, marketing, advertising or related discipline with knowledge of advertising or marketing and a minimum of 6 years editing experience in medical advertising, medical publishing, and/or medical education years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
