Senior Medical Science Liaison - GI

To develop strong product advocacy through KOL development by delivering quality medical education to internal and external colleagues.
• Identify, build, and leverage relationships with national, regional and local thought leaders (55%)
• Identify and develop key thought leaders for medical education and clinical research opportunities
• Develop strategic thought leader plans to provide needs-based, value-added services and to improve their advocacy
• Respond to unsolicited requests for information

• Provide input and participate in cross-functional initiatives (15%)
• Participate in internal therapeutic advisory groups and project teams
• Publication planning; slide-deck development, training initiatives
• Provide field-based medical support to Shire’s clinical research programs

• Deliver quality medical education presentations in a variety of settings and to obtain valuable feedback that can disseminated throughout the organization (5%)

• Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence from multiple sources (10%)

• Additional developmental and leadership responsibilities (10%)
• Takes advantage of opportunities to mentor other MSL team members
• Actively guides contributions of cross-functional project teams (e.g., TAG lead)
• Able to assist with administrative aspects of regional activities

• Complete accurate and timely administrative reports, projects, and required documentation requests (5%)

Requirements:

Completion of a doctorate level degree (Pharm.D. M.D., D.O., or Ph.D.) is required, with relevant residency and/or fellowship experience desired.
• Has an established track record of effective and influential oral presentations within the healthcare profession
• Demonstrative relevant therapeutic research or substantive patient care experience is required (3 years minimum)
• Experience with drug therapy positioning with a track record of influencing others to make accurate and effective therapeutic decisions is desired
• Generally has 24 months of experience as a field MSL
• Demonstration of expertise in key skills and competencies
