Position:  Senior Optical Engineer
Location:  CA
Experience:  5+ years
Education:  BS/prefer advanced degree

Responsibilities:

-Work with multidisciplinary product development teams to launch market-leading instrumentation products for Life Sciences Research.

-Use analysis and modeling to develop optimal design solutions.

-Prototype, integrate, test, and troubleshoot optical imaging systems and electromechanical systems.

-Serve as local knowledge base in geometrical optics and geometrical optical design as applied to spectroscopy and microscopy

- Adhere to exemplary business and engineering practices. 

Qualifications:

-MS in Optics or related physical science.

-Strong in geometrical optics and imaging optics, but not exclusively a lens designer.

-Experience tolerancing lens designs, has outsourced a multitude of lens designs, and can quickly analyze lens designs using Zemax

-Min 5 years industry experience in design and development of optics-based bioanalytical instrumentation representing a broad range of optical technologies.

-Experience in an optical laboratory environment containing sophisticated optical instrumentation

-Strong communication and team working skills.

-Flexible work attitude with willingness to assist in other project areas if needs arise.

-Preferred: Engineering and hands-on experience with fluorescence and confocal microscopy & non-imaging optics experience.
