Position:  Sr. Optical Engineer           

Location:  Minnesota

Experience:  7-10 years

Education:  BS/MS preferred in Optics or Physics

Job Description:

Company is searching for a Sr. Optical Engineer to oversee the development of new optical products for sport optics group and eventually military applications.  The candidate will work with outside vendors to develop optical products currently and will be responsible to build an in house capacity to develop all optic design and test in house.

Responsibilities:

• Identify new or existing optical or opto-electronic technologies to incorporate into new products.
• Develop specifications for selecting components and equipment to use. Participates in sourcing and works with outside vendors.
• Compile and analyzes test data to determine effect of design on products, systems, or equipment.
• Perform research, design, and development in such areas as mechanical, electrical, and other related engineering design functions.  
• Participate in marketing based events. 
• Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
