Current Need


The Senior DBA will perform the duties for daily maintenance, monitoring, performance analysis, trouble shooting, problem resolution, and user assistance required of Oracle database environments.

In this position the candidate will be responsible for various database administration tasks in the development, QA, and production environments. Candidates for this position should have an understanding of database concepts and technologies and experience in UNIX/Linux, administering Oracle 9i/10G database instances, Oracle 10G RAC and DataGuard.

This person will work with a cross-section of internal IT organizations, including other DBA's, systems analysts, developers and the management team. Must be available for rotating on-call pager.

- Install, configure and upgrade Oracle server software and related products in a UNIX environment.

- Create and implement Oracle backup and recovery methods and disaster recovery methods using RMAN.

- Database tuning for optimal performance to meet Business SLA*s.

- Design, test and implement Oracle high availability solutions.

- Establish effective database performance monitoring procedures.

- Control and monitor user access to databases and maintain database security.

- Allocate systems storage and develop plans for future storage requirements.(Capacity planning)

- Set up and maintain documentation and standards.

- Resolving development and QA database requests, and troubleshooting various database issues.

- Provides technical assistance and mentoring to staff.

- Rotational On-call Pager

- Must have the ability and willingness to be on-call for live coverage and to cover live weekend events. The positions requires about 10% travel.

Additional Knowledge & Skills


- Strong experience in Oracle 9i and 10g installations, administration, design and development.

- Strong experience with Linux/UNIX

- Minimum of a year working experience with Oracle 10g.

- Strong knowledge of Oracle High Availability solutions: Oracle 10G DataGuard and RAC.

- Strong knowledge of Oracle RMAN.

- Strong UNIX shell scripting experience.

- Extensive experience in SQL tuning and Oracle database performance tuning.

- Proven diagnostic problem solving and solution development capabilities required

Minimum Requirements


6+ years experience in database administration

Education


4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
