| Description: | Greatbatch Medical, located in Plymouth, MN, is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer for its Advanced Process Engineering Team. The primary purpose of this position is to provide experienced packaging engineering leadership on manufacturing, process development and product development initiatives. Essential Functions of the Job Research, develop, test, and validate new packaging and labeling solutions for medical devices as an integral part of the product development team. Responsible for determining packaging material specifications to maintain product integrity. This includes development of appropriate design to maximize long term quality and shelf life of product while minimizing cost. Collaborate and builds consensus with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives and expectations are defined and met with regard to packaging and labeling of medical devices. Develop project plans that define scope, adherence to schedule, costs, business impact and risks. Executes plans and identifies issues or obstacles, proposes solutions, gains alignment and brings to resolution. Highlight risks to project team and assist in elimination of road blocks when encountered. Serve as a technical resource and provide strong personal leadership to other cross-functional team members in the organization. Provide technical expertise and support for existing products
Position Qualifications Education: BS Engineering Degree in Related Field; BS Packaging Engineering or Master’s degree preferred Experience: 7+ years of Medical Device Packaging experience desired, packaging and labeling experience with medical devices required. Knowledge of packaging engineering industry. Must be a technical expert with good understanding of various medical packaging designs, options and associated risks. Packaging and Labeling Validation experience required with strong emphasis on design and development of packaging and labeling. Experience with a variety of packaging/labeling material suppliers and vendor qualifications. Packaging design and process experience. Specialized knowledge needed for performance of job: Working knowledge of GMP, ISO and FDA regulations and expertise in design controls within a regulated industry. Familiar with standards related to packaging such as ASTM D 4169 and ISO 11607. Good understanding of sterilization processes. CAD experience preferred, strong problem solving ability and root cause analysis skills. Special Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, follow-through and organizational skills. Work well in a cross-functional team that includes internal and external customers. Self motivation as well as the ability to function comfortably in a team environment is critical.
