Department Overview
The Symantec Management Platform (SMP) is the core of Symantec's security strategy for the Enterprise. Its open architecture supports rapid delivery of integrated solutions in order to react to customers' changing needs. Some key Enterprise products (including Symantec Endpoint Protection, Backup Exec System Recovery, Veritas Configuration Manager, and Data Loss Prevention) are already integrated with the SMP. Now SMP forms the basis for the Protection Center, Symantec's new security management brand that will offer better protection and reduce the cost of security management by providing a unified web console, integrations and control across products, and actionable cross-product reporting.
Responsibilities
• Perform all tasks in capacity of a test lead of SQA engineers, working on more than one project simultaneously, with development groups located in both in the US and elsewhere • Train and mentor all levels of SQA engineers on various teams • Assign and track to completion all project-related QA tasks, including assignments to offshore resources • Contribute to product planning with regard to testability and compliance with common criteria or other similar standards • Troubleshoot performance, scalability, and stability issues within the product and propose solutions • Work with SQA management to develop testing approaches that maximize SQA efficiencies and help develop the vision for the organization • Work with development to decide project metrics and determine project inefficiencies; take proactive steps to ensure efficiencies, including productivity, trend, and predictive metrics • Work closely with product management on features that should be added to the product to achieve strategic goals • Create software automation that is reusable and extensible • Work with Technical Directors and Architects to design and implement robust solutions
Qualifications
• 10-12+ years of progressive SQA experience • Strong Windows background with history of system level and enterprise testing • Strong experience with Agile/Scrum development methods • Expert troubleshooting skills • Expert knowledge/practice of development lifecycle and best practices • Expert in all aspects of SQA methodology, including PRD review, test plan creation, test case creation, and driving to completion the various tasks of a test team • Significant experience interfacing with offshore resources preferred
