A leader in all design aspects of the product development activities with the ability to drive and organize the best design solutions for our internal and external customers. Also, performs complete product development functions of fluid transfer products: conceptual, proto-type and production. Interacts with customers, vendors and coworkers to achieve the optimum design for each application.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· To drive and organize the design side of the product development activities to perform to its maximum efficiency.
· Provides technical assistance to sales team and interacts with customers to acquire all technical information and performance requirements necessary for the optimum solution.
· Utilizes Solidworks CAD during the development process.
· Interacts with Tool Engineer and vendors to product a feasible design.
· Produces drawings to convey design intent to customers, Tooling Department, and vendors.
· Produces mathematical CAD data to be supplied to customers and Tool Department.
· Solves customer problems pertaining to fluid transfer systems by providing the best possible design per the customer’s request and parameters.
· Designs fixtures for assembling and or checking parts.
· Responsible for the performance and quality of the design.
· Complies with company teamwork philosophy, including the 8-disciplines of team-oriented problem solving, as well as all company policies and procedures.
· Supports the Engineering Department by providing assistance in design with the past experience acquired.
· Responsible for implementing and organizing new equipment provided to the design portion of the Engineering Department.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
· Technical degree or technical training relating to product design
· At least eight years of experience in designing fluid transfer systems, i.e., fuel and vapor quick connects.
· Inter-personal skills required to effectively communicate with team members, customers and vendors.
· Knowledge of standard automotive industry drafting practices.
· Familiarity with processes of plastic injection molding, tooling, quality control, and performance testing.
