We currently have an immediate need for an IP Mobile Backhaul Product Solutions Marketing Manager

 

The PSMM is responsible for working with the Packet Transport Team for partner definition and identification (MRD/PRD and contracting), solutions verification, and positioning of the IP Mobile Backhaul solution within the overall Harris Stratex product portfolio both internally and externally (Customer facing).

 

As the mobile industry continues to build out 3G network capacity and begins to migrate towards 3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution), adopting a transport designed for these services is becoming increasingly more viable and necessary. Hence the need to migrate the traditionally TDM-based networks to an IP transport that accommodates their legacy 2G and 3G products/technology. The ideal PSMM understands the technology and products necessary to support the migration of TDM-based mobile backhaul networks to IP and Ethernet while preserving the TDM services. The PSM will serve as a “trusted advisor” to the Harris Stratex sales force and our customers. As such, the PSMM will be responsible for developing collateral on network technologies, such as Carrier Ethernet, MPLS, MPLS-TP, PBB-TE, and other packet-based technologies required to support the TDM migration to IP.

 

The PSMM must maintain sufficient understanding of the IP Mobile Backhaul market requirements to define requirements for new product solutions, and drive development and/or integration priorities to meet the changing market needs of the competitive market.  The PSMM understands short term and long term backhaul solution requirements, technology and pricing trends.

 

Key accounts contribute to a significant proportion of company revenues and as such require the special attention and focus of the Product Marketing Group. The PSMM will play a key role as a catalyst to position the Harris Stratex IP Mobile Backhaul solution in these accounts. The PSMM will ensure the product mix and strategy is aligned with the requirements of key accounts and will champion new solutions to meet key account and sector needs.

 

Ultimately the PSMM enables sector targets to be met by maintaining and implementing a comprehensive IP product solution set and communicating what is needed from the company to meet the plan. This includes definition and regular review of pricing and other necessary sales tools to support the needs of indirect and direct sales channels.

 

The PSMM must be able to work cross-functionally with the Sales organization, Executive, Operations/Planning, Engineering, and Product Line Management groups. The PSMM will have key working relationships with the Product Development Program Manager providing product direction inputs and priorities, the Operations Materials Manager to provide inputs to the forecast, the Operations Product Line Manager, and the growth initiatives incubator core team members.

 

Though this position does not have any direct reports, it is considered a senior leadership position. The PSMM will ultimately be responsible for the successful launch of IP solutions and its on-going evolution.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Owner of the IP Mobile Backhaul Solutions marketing plan and strategy.

·         Definition and verification of complete IP backhaul systems that add value to the core product portfolio through strategic partnerships.

·         Establish cross organizational relationships with Engineering, PLM, Strategic Sourcing/Supply Chain, Field Services, Legal, and Sales to enable smooth hand over and management of partner solutions through life-cycle management from definition to exit.

·         Focus on key account/customer retention.

·         Be the problem solving champion for Partner solution related account issues.

·         Support the field to ensure sales opportunities are turned into orders.

·         Work with Corporate Marketing/Marcoms team to ensure sales tools and collateral are available to support the recommended partner solutions offering.

·         Provide bid strategy support and presentation assistance for strategically important bids.
Act as the field facing agent for Product Line Management and Engineering groups.
Ensure sales sectors are trained on the product solution offering recommendations, availability and system tools.

·         Assist in development of high margin/value-add opportunities, particularly when sales resources are inadequate or inadequately trained.

·         Works cross-functionality within the Sales, Engineering, and Operations Organizations, as well as with executive staff.

·         Maintain a solid understanding of short term and long term market product requirements, technology and pricing trends.

·         Collect product requirements information from the field to generate new product solution requirements and guide development priorities.

·         Promote and develop opportunities through product trials and testing regimes, through co-ordination between account demand and Global Regulatory, Test & Trials group.

·         Communication – Updates to sectors on product offering, issues, and bulletins, in conjunction with Regional Product Marketing every 4-6 weeks.

·         Communication –Sector based Product updates and Training every 6 months.

·         Communication – Generate customer facing bulletins and Customer letters as required.

·         In co-ordination with Product Line Management communicate all product changes, availability issues, problems, and relevant information to Sales, Customers, Suppliers, and all internal and external organizations, as required and appropriate.

·         Communication – Weekly management reporting on Progress, Problems, Opportunities, and Plans.

·         Support Engineering issues resolution by providing customer priorities, assigning issue ‘show stopper’ status and communicating known issues to customers.

·         Provide inputs into relevant product collateral, such as datasheets, brochures, case studies, application notes, presentations.

·         Work with Sales and when appropriate Customers, to develop applications, white papers and testimonials that address customer needs and assist in product promotion.  

 



 Qualifications

·         A relevant tertiary qualification is essential for this position, i.e. bachelor degree or equivalent in communications, technology, marketing, or business.

·         A master’s degree such as an MBA is preferred but not essential.

·         Technical certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE are strongly preferred.

 

Experience

·         A minimum of 10 years relevant work experience in world-wide communications technology and marketing is essential for this role.

·         A minimum of 5 years experience working in the microwave or other wireless transmission field is preferred.

·         A minimum of 10 years relevant work experience in IP communications technology and technical marketing is essential for this role.

·         Experience working in or with mobile operators in a technical or advisory role is preferred.

This position requires the following skills and competencies:

·         Ability to work cross-functionally.

·         Strong knowledge of IP networking technologies such as routing, MPLS, QoS, VLANs, Traffic Engineering, Pseudowires (PWE3), IEEE 1588v2, and Synchronous Ethernet.

·         Strong understanding of wireless standards.

·         Strong understanding of TDM-based technologies including an understanding of clock synchronization methodologies and technologies.

·         Moderate understanding of technologies involved in 3GPP and 3GGP2 mobile networks.

·         Strong technical skills & expertise, ideally in microwave or telecommunications.

·         International market and Customer interaction experience.

·         Ability to manage multiple projects and issues, simultaneously.

·         Strong inter-personal communications skills.

·         Good Accounting/Financial Skills.

·         Excellent Customer/Issue Management skills.

·         A genuine desire and drive the products success and implement the goals of Harris Stratex Networks.
