The senior production database administrator will be a critical member of the Advisory Board's Business Intelligence operations team, serving as the "go to" person for all Oracle databases. He or she will be responsible for providing insight into all database environments and advising on Oracle best practices. The Sr. DBA will need to effectively communicate with application teams and management teams, as well as the other DBA team members.
Specific Responsibilites Include:
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle administration.
- Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills.
- Proven experience with Oracle Database management, configuration and tuning.
- Serve as primary DBA support for mission-critical databases and own problem resolution from end-to-end.
- Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
- Responsible for supporting the Oracle databases and ensuring their performance, availability and security.
- Provide 24 x7 on call support, participate in off hours troubleshooting and perform scheduled maintenance activities.
- Responsible for capacity planning and trend analysis.
- Responsible for problem escalation to internal support teams and outside vendors as appropriate.
- Responsible for maintenance of the databases to include patch apply and upgrades.
- Responsible for implementation of database changes related to application release processes.
- Ability to work under pressure and able to work flexible hours as required by business priorities.
- Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service.
Required Skills and Experience:
Preferred Background:
- Experience in an ASP (Application Service Provider) environment
- Working knowledge of service oriented architectures, data-warehousing architectures and exposure to ETL environments and/or server side development.
- Experience with MicroStrategy and Informatica
- Experience working with industry standards, regulations and guidelines in database warehousing systems
- Oracle Certification
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
