Job Description
• Position involves creation of mechanical and electrical drawings and complete drawing sets for large scale Architectural, Theatrical, and other venues involving automated and computerized lighting control equipment, in particular for large, complex projects. • Monitoring and management of the processes involved in order and follow-on support as necessary, including assisting with Project Management activities and documentation, as necessary, with various departments within Genlyte Controls, such as Customer Service, Manufacturing and others involved with the sale, manufacturing, and shipment of product involved in projects. • Provide Project Management for select jobs, including creating and maintaining timely, adequate, and detailed records and job files for any and all projects assigned. • Create, using AutoCAD, or assist in the creation of and checking of drawings to be used as submittal and/or manufacturing documents in support of on-going projects. • Daily and direct contact with customer base, calling for a conduct appropriate to maintaining and projecting a professional and customer service based attitude. • Maintain an orderly and accessible working environment so that involvement in any given project may be continued and adequately supported by a manager or co-workers. • Design custom equipment as required for projects. • Keep current on Compliance issues (e.g., UL, ANSI ASC E.1 (ESTA), and NEC) as necessary for custom equipment design.
Requirements
• Familiarity or knowledge of architectural and theatrical lighting control components, control, and systems. Engineering degree and technical theatre degree and/or experience strongly preferred. • Experience working with large project drawings and specifications centered on lighting and lighting control. • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet. • Ability to create, update, and maintain records and files per established procedures. • Ability to interact with customer base on a daily basis, by telephone or email. • Experience and expert knowledge of AutoCAD 2000 as a minimum, and later versions preferred. (AutoCAD 2006 is current company standard). Three-dimensional drafting ability is required. • Knowledge in AutoLISP and drafting standards implementation preferred. • It will be necessary to read, understand, and translate mechanical and electrical specifications and drawings supplied by customers into company’s format. Drawing sets will be created for submittal to customers. • Knowledge and understanding of Ethernet networking, components, and its integration into larger-scale venues is an integral part of this position. • Knowledge and understanding of Entertainment Industry standards with emphasis on electrical and control, including UL, ANSI ASC E1 (ESTA), USITT, NFPA, NEC, IEEE, EIA/TIA.
