Role: Senior Project Engineer supports Mill Engineering Department initiatives and projects as directed. Applying sound engineering principles the Senior Project Engineer manages several capital projects and repair projects concurrently, manages "special projects" that are not part of the regular Capital Budget, and participates in studies. When assigned to Maintenance, assists Crafts with more technical assignments or assignments requiring more detailed preparation. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for successful completion of Capital and major expense projects of varying size. Total cost of projects assigned varies from year to year. 2. Insures that safe practices are followed in the installation of all assigned projects. 3. Insure that all projects assigned are installed in compliance with the requirements of the Environmental Management System. Communicate necessary information to contractors and suppliers. 4. Has no direct supervisory responsibility but is required to provide direction to other Project Engineers, CAD Operators/Designers, Consulting Engineers, Maintenance Supervisors and Craftsmen, and Outside Contractors. 5. Acts as Project Manager for all assigned engineering and construction related projects. Responsible for all aspects of project completion to include design, installation, cost control, and on-time completion. 6. Recommends plant improvements based on engineering studies and maintenance inspections. Evaluates alternatives and makes recommendations based on sound engineering principles. 7. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements: 1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a 4 year college or universtiy. 2. 7-10 years experience in the field of Engineering in a manufacturing environment preferably pulp and paper mill. 3. Ability to communicate well with others, both written and orally. 4. Computer skills using Word processing, Spreadsheets, Internet software, E-mail, Inventory, and Manufacturing software.
