MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM) is the Internet and interactive media arm of Major League Baseball (MLB) and operates the league's Web site, MLB.com. The site, which draws an audience of more than four million people each day, offers news, schedules, standings, and statistics from around the league as well as information on each of MLB's 30 teams. The site also provides live audio and video game broadcasts for subscribers. In addition to subscription fees, MLBAM generates revenue through advertising and sponsorships, along with ticket sales through its Tickets.com subsidiary. The baseball league created MLBAM in 2000 through a unanimous vote of all 30 teams.
As opposed to a job testing the latest in a long line of accounting software packages, as our Senior Mobile QA Engineer based in our New York City office in Chelsea Market, your main mission will be to test our latest mobile websites, containing games, player stats features, live media apps, and other "must haves" for the modern baseball fanatic. The fundamental aspects of your experience such as the review of QA
requirements, documentation of findings, creation of test cases and the
performing of systems integration testing will serve as a sound
foundation for success in this role. And your experience testing applications for the iPhone, Palm, WebOS, J2ME, Blackberry, or Android will be crucial for understanding how the web works on mobile devices. We have developed our own testing framework on Watir, however it will be helpful that you have experience with other structured testing methodologies and tools such as Selenium and SilkTest. Strong business communication skills will be necessary as you interact with members of our development team, marketing, and some management level stakeholders to review specifications, capacity and fault tolerances, research issues and work with engineers to ensure uptime for game time.
