We are seeking qualified candidates for Senior Quality Engineer for Honeywell's Life Safety business in Rock Island, Illinois. This is an exciting time to join Honeywell's Life Safety business.
Honeywell Life Safety is a strategic business unit in Automation and Control Solutions (ACS). We are a global leader in commercial fire systems, smoke and gas detection, personal protective equipment, and home healthcare monitoring products.
As Senior Quality Engineer, you will facilitate the development of a corrective and preventive action system with responsibility for implementation of successful metrics. You will actively participate in New Product Introduction Process (NPD) including the development of quality plans, facilitation of FMEAs, auditing worst case design analysis, and product validation testing.
You will direct quality training for all employees on quality assurance state of the art tools, systems, methods and procedures. Expertise in six sigma methods is required for success in this role.
You will also be responsible for directing employees in quality assurance including hire, train, evaluate performance.
Other responsibilities of this role include:
- Prepare reports for management which demonstrate trends and help direct improvement efforts.
Coordinate quality planning activities, develops and documents quality plans of new and modified products and processes, verification procedure.
- Develop and direct process and measurement capability studies and their documentation.
- Direct the design of experiments to reduce variation in critical product and process parameters or measurement error.
-Develop, implement and maintain quality policies, procedures, standards, forms and records.
- Review the effectiveness of the quality system and prepare periodic reports for executive management review.
- Assure compliance and recommend actions to improve the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Conduct internal audits of the quality system to verify conformance to documented quality policies, procedures, standards and record keeping and controlling authority.
- Support the development and maintenance of quality systems at facility and direct and conduct assessments of the status of these quality systems.
- Ensure compliance to New Product Introduction Process in accordance with Honeywell requirements.
- Track customer returns, internal defects test yields, scrap and downtime reports and other nonconforming conditions and report the status and corrective action to management.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Technology groups to develop recommendations and execute corrective and preventative measures using six sigma tools.
- Actively participate in company-wide improvement activities to reduce waste and throughout the company and recommend system enhancements and facilitate implementation.
- Recommend to executive management ongoing audit plans and other activities to ensure consistently high levels of quality to customers worldwide.
-Develop actions to address quality system, key process and customer problems.
- Prepare weekly quality metrics for customer returns.
- Analyze trends and take corrective/preventive actions accordingly.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in a Science or Engineering field.
• 6 or more years of experience as Quality Engineer.
Additional Qualifications:
• Six Sigma Black belt Certification is preferred.
• Experience in Toyota Production System or similar quality methodology, highly preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite required.
• Proficiency in MiniTab preferred.
