Primarily responsible for (but not limited to), coordinating multi-site activities of the Quality Engineering group, inclusive of Marble, Keynote, and Plating Operations, with respect to improving the quality of components, sub-systems, and product-related services provided by Goodrich Landing Gear. Work with all Quality Engineering and Program Quality Engineering Groups to provide a macro systems approach to solving quality-related process and part problems. Provide advanced quality planning, establish goals and targets for improvement, and coordinate Quality Improvement initiatives as they relate to ensuring a steady flow of quality products and services. Generate and maintain driver metrics, support and lead intra-site Quality Improvement Teams, and drive quality improvement initiatives as part of the continuous improvement philosophy. Responsible for flow-down of Site and Divisional quality requirements and customer specifications to both hourly and salary associates, and the skills base training of Quality Engineers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Work directly with Site Quality Manager on development of QI plans for the Site Quality Engineering effort. Provide direct input into the Quality PDPR.
Develop and deploy training materials to improve the skills base of Quality Engineers, Quality Associates, and OSV participants.
Develop and implement product and process quality plans and standard work that assure conformance to all customer and regulatory requirements. Actively seek opportunities for process improvement (poka-yoke, control plans, etc), focusing on preventive actions.
Audit processes to assure compliance to Quality practices and work instructions throughout the facility. Assure inspection and test is effective and efficient in mitigating quality risks. Support and participate in the Internal Audit process and customer PVA's.
Initiate, monitor, and execute Quality improvement programs/events to align with and achieve PDPR goals and objectives and customer ratings improvements.
Develop, maintain and provide quality metrics as required as a means to facilitate positive proactive change. Actively participate in daily LDMS to communicate trend analysis and recommendations for corrective / preventive action and quality improvement.
Plan, lead, and coordinate inter and intra-Site Quality Improvement Teams and other periodic quality focused meetings, assuring timely completion of actions. Support CAB and InterSite with analysis of issues and recommendations for corrective and preventive action.
Work with Inspection Supervison to improve Inspection methods, techniques, capabilities and efficiencies.
Prepare and facilitate requests for drawing changes. As required, participate in new product development to promote QI. Verify drawing changes are properly implemented into Assembly planning and bill of materials.
Prepare and facilitate First Article Inspections.
Support the review of manufacturing planning documentation.
Work with SQA to facilitate corrective and preventive action relative to supplier quality problems and source inspection issues.
Support final gear clearance and the resolution of quality problem issues and concerns with Assembly and Inspection.
Initiate and follow up on stock purges and line checks and generate special handing travelers when necessary.
Data mine and analyze non-conformances, Service data, CA's, Escapes and other sources of data to identify the critical few issues and generate QI as appropriate.
Support Manufacturing Engineering in the design of fixturing and gauging. Identify and acquire inspection and test equipment / gauging needed to achieve target quality levels. Update inspection and test techniques to improve productivity / accuracy and eliminate inconsistencies through development of standards of acceptability. Support Quality Supervision with Preliminary Review of inspection discrepancy reports for validity of rejections and clarity of documentation.
Initiate and actively participate in investigations related to quality issues across Cleveland locations. Issue Corrective Action Requests for product or process deficiencies where appropriate.
Work with Quality Engineers in other departments and sites to resolve problem issues and improve the quality of components. Develop and maintain metrics on QI initiatives across locations and other sites to provide benchmarks for improvement.
Assemble and deliver training materials for Quality Engineers, to solidify their QE skills and to support consistency in analysis between locations and departments.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Six Sigma Green Belt or higher Certification required
Lean Practitioner Certification preferred
BS in Engineering or other technical discipline preferred, (but may consider equivalent work experience), a minimum of five years experience in manufacturing, and a minimum three (3) years of experience with ISO9001/AS9100.
Proficiency required in Microsoft programs.
ASQ-CQE Certification required
Bias for action, integrity, leadership skills, strong interpersonal / communication skills, solid time management skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision are required competencies.
