
The Position
-Investigates complaints or incidents related to occupational safety, fleet and systems safety, and public safety impacting OCTA operations. Conducts in-depth HSEC analysis of the salient issues and provides recommended corrective actions that address the root cause of the incidents.
-Develops and implements health and safety compliance programs for Agency-wide operations. Helps determine the applicable HSEC programs to be implemented and ensures programs are continuously updated according to the current regulations. Inspects and verifies agency compliance with safety and health policies/regulations; recommends and ensures corrective actions are implemented.
-Participates in committees and attends meetings related to employee safety, public safety, fleet and construction safety, as well as property loss or damage. Provides expertise for resolving related issues.
-Tracks and manages all OCTA industrial injury and illness data, while overseeing the investigation processes and program refinement activities.
-Reviews, revises, and/or develops manuals and procedures related to safety programs and policies.
-Reports accidents or incidents to governmental agencies in accordance with regulatory mandates; submits required reports, plans and all required documentation in a timely manner.
-Helps prepare studies and analysis of industrial accidents, environmental assessments, and health hazard evaluations to support internal and external audits, and continuous improvement of HSEC programs.
Qualifications
Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field with approximately five to eight years of related experience in health and safety, three years of which are at the journey level administrating and overseeing regulatory compliance activities. Prior experience in worker training, worksite evaluation, and field audits is required. Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) is desired.
