Senior Scientist - CBRNE Medical Defense

Applied Research Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced scientist to help develop mathematical models of physical and biological effects of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) hazards, with an emphasis on ionizing radiation and the radiobiological effects associated with radiation and exposure to radioactive material. The candidate should have good research, analysis, and model development skills.  The successful candidate must interface well with government customers, oversee the technical development of human response models, and serve as the coordinator for related software developments.  The successful candidate will apply his/her understanding of CBRNE hazards and their health effects to develop mathematical models and software tools in support of hazard detection, consequence assessment and medical planning for emergency response.
 
The work location is in Arlington, Virginia. Occasional travel may be required. The successful applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
 


Job Requirements:
 Required education: M.S. or Ph.D. in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
 
Required skills: Research and development experience; familiarity with physiological modeling and CBRN hazard assessment tools.  Previous experience with human injury modeling and familiarity with DTRA R&D programs considered a plus.  Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
 
Ability to obtain a clearance is required
