Job Description

Senior Scientist

The individual in this role will provide scientific leadership to spectroscopic product development, marketing, applications and engineering specifically for life sciences. They will publish new work in peer reviewed and industry publications and deliver presentations at industry-specific tradeshows.  They will work closely with product development teams to provide a Voice of Customer perspective for Life Scientists and will be responsible for driving innovation within life sciences to protect and expand TFS IP portfolio.  The qualified individual will provide scientific leadership for all molecular and microanalysis products for Life Sciences and bioanalytics and will work with marketing to identify opportunities for expansion into new market spaces and will initiate and cultivate external relationships. This role will require 15-20% travel- domestic and International. Other duties as required.

 

We require a PhD - Biochemist, molecular biologist, biological chemist or biotechnologist and a minimum of 10 years industrial experience in biology, biochemistry or biotechnology.  We also require a history of publishing in peer reviewed journals.  Experience in spectroscopy is required as well as demonstrated scientific or technical leadership.  An understanding of a broad range of Bioanalytical instrumentation and its utilization and extensive experience with nucleic acid and or protein analytics is required.  Optical spectroscopy experience in this field is a plus (e.g. UV/Vis or Fluorescence).  Experience with Intellectual Property is also a plus. A thorough understanding of Molecular Biology Techniques and tools used in genomics and proteomics labs (PCR, Assay development, cloning, gel electrophoresis, sequencing) is preferred.  Excellent verbal and written skills are a must in this role.
