Senior Scientist, Oncology Targeted Immunotherapy

About the Job


A Senior Scientist position requiring a Ph.D. degree is available for a highly motivated, creative & inquisitive tumor cell biologist in the Targeted Therapeutics Discovery Group in Oncology Research & Discovery. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to establish their own research and will be expected to progress research programs in targeted immunotherapy. The ideal applicant will have extensive experience in cancer research, tumor microenvironment biology, immunology, or related fields, and a desire to continue in a laboratory-focused role. The candidate will have a proven track record of scientific productivity as evidenced by first author publications in prominent journals and ability to participate in a highly matrixed and innovative research environment. The individual will have leadership responsibilities including participation in strategic discussions, establishment of external collaborations, coordination of program activities, and alignment of stake holders from partner lines to meet timelines and advance research goals. The successful candidate may mentor/manage other scientists. He/she should be able to translate basic research findings into novel therapeutic strategies that support clinical drug development.


  • Independently design and execute experiments using in vitro biochemical and cell-based assays to investigate target biology and therapeutic mechanisms of action and resistance.
  • Participate/lead the target identification and validation efforts within the group.
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative in troubleshooting experiments and performing data analysis.
  • Effectively collaborate with other members of the Oncology Research & Discovery and supporting partner lines.
  • Present findings to project teams and governance bodies, prepare technical reports, and contribute to regulatory filings.
  • Conduct research that leads to publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation of data at internal and external meetings.


  • Ph.D. degree in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or related field with postdoctoral or industry experience
  • Solid background in tumor biology, immuno-oncology and/or biologic-based therapeutics
  • Expertise and hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry/FACS, immunofluorescence/confocal microscopy, ELISA, and cell culture techniques such as spheroid cultures/3D assays.
  • Experience investigating resistance mechanisms to targeted therapies, redirected T cell therapies and/or immunotherapies is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and highly organized in terms of goal setting and achieving


The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues within Targeted Immunotherapy. The development and maintenance of productive relationships will be necessary with TTD In Vivo Pharm (IVP), Intergrated Biology Group (IBG), BioMedicine Design (BMD), Drug Safety R&D (DSRD), Cancer Immunology Discovery (CID) etc.


Extended periods of standing and sitting typical of active laboratory focused research Principal Scientist role. Data analysis, integration and reporting to manager required on a daily basis.
