The Senior Software Developer serves as a member of a development team responsible for taking software development projects from start to completion. The Senior Software Developer's role is to design, code, test and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting and modifying software specifications throughout the production lifecycle. The software developer will also analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion and provide status reports where required. The technology platform is comprised of Java, J2EE Application Servers and MySQL databases all in a Linux/Windows environment.

 

Specific Duties:

  • Designs and codes applications that solve a variety of major business issues
  • Creates technical documentation to support maintenance of the applications
  • Assist other developers, analysts, and designers in conceptualizing and developing new software programs and applications.
  • Plan phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) for a variety of projects.
  • Assist in the preparation and documentation of software requirements and specifications.
  • Research and document requirements of software users.

Key Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of J2EE development experience
  • Experience with the Spring framework
  • Experience with one other mainstream Java web development framework, i.e. Seam
  • Experience with ORM frameworks, preferably Hibernate
  • 3+ years experience with SOA / messaging technologies including:
    • ESB development experience, preferably Mule
    • XML development with a mainstream framework, preferably JAXB
    • SOAP / REST experience with Java technologies (Axis, Xfire)
    • JMS
  • Presentation tier design and implementation experience required with:
    • HTML / CSS
    • JSP / JSTL
    • AJAX
  • Comfortable working in a controlled development environment, including experience/familiarity with:
    • Subversion
    • Maven 2
    • Bamboo
  • Must be comfortable with Unix/Linux environments. Administration experience preferable
  • Must possess good hardware, operating system and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be willing to embrace Open Source technologies, which are leveraged heavily throughout our projects
  • Must possess good project management and organizational skills
  • Comfortable with agile development methodologies

US Citizenship required. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

 

Undergraduate Degree in Related Field required.
