Books24x7, a SkillSoft Company is searching for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in Norwood, MA.

We’re looking for an experienced database software engineer with 5+ years of experience developing database driven web applications. The candidate should have a strong SQL programming background and be able to implement, debug and maintain the stored procedures driving the Books24x7 platform.

Position Overview – Senior Software Engineer

The successful candidate will join the Books24x7 Engineering team responsible for the online Books24x7 product. This is an excellent opportunity to join a small team focused on the maintenance and evolution of a class leading web application used by leading corporations and institutions around the globe.

The Senior Software Engineer role covers all aspects of the software development lifecycle and all aspects of the Books24x7 product and supporting applications but will primarily be focused on the backend databases. The ideal candidate is capable of working independently as well as in small teams and enjoys working with leading edge technology in a fast paced work environment.

We’re looking for an experienced database software engineer with 5+ years of experience developing database driven web applications. The candidate should have a strong SQL programming background and be able to implement, debug and maintain the stored procedures driving the Books24x7 platform. Experience of developing data warehouse and reporting solutions on the MS SQL Server platform is also required as the candidate’s responsibilities will include developing and maintaining our warehouse and upgrading our reporting solution.

Responsibilities:

Participate in all aspects of software development including requirements analysis, effort estimation, technical investigation, software design and implementation, unit testing, and bug fixing.

Monitoring, performance analysis and maintenance of our production database to ensure we meet our availability and performance targets.

Write, debug and monitor jobs, bulk loads and updates as necessary.

Design, implement and debug enhancements to the Books24x7 database, reporting warehouse and both internal and customer visible reports.

Create and document detailed software designs.

Evaluate emerging technologies that impact our business and design solutions that allow us to quickly integrate those technologies with our platform

Requirements:                                                                       

A minimum of 5 years experience in commercial software development

Solid knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and MS TSQL

Proven track record of delivering usable, reliable, scalable, database driven web applications.

Ability to effectively communicate technical designs and architectures both verbally and written.

Experience developing data warehouse solutions using SSIS and SSRS.

Knowledge of MS SQL Server full text search particularly in SQL Server 2008 preferred.

Experience with Microsoft web application development including IIS, ASP, ASP.NET and C# desirable.

BS or MS Computer Science or equivalent experience.
