SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Opportunity:
Puresend, a NYC-based email service provider selling its suite of services to businesses in need of an outsourced deployment solution, is seeking a technology-loving individual to join our experienced development team to direct and manage the full life cycle of our application development.

Required Technical Skills:
• Project management, requirements gathering/validation and architecture
• Java (J2SE 1.4+, Servlets, JSP, JDBC, JavaMail, Apache Commons libraries)
• Relational databases and SQL

• Testing and release management
• Familiarity with software development best practices, including design patterns and refactoring strategies

Responsibilities:
• Manage onsite and potentially offsite engineers

• Design usable, simple, and friendly interfaces to advanced functionality and maintain the overall usability of our web based applications
• Interface with customers and colleagues to determine project requirements and extract specifications and propose designs
• Redesign and (if necessary) re-implement the user interface of our main product

Candidate Characteristics:
• Energetic, self-motivated, and able to prioritize and re-prioritize workload prioritize and re-prioritize workload
• Project ownership: expected to take ownership of an entire product line or product lines and guide future development with the business line manager(s)
• Willingness to assist in specifying infrastructure requirements and building out new infrastructure projects
• Excellent communication skills, ability to express technical ideas clearly in writing, for other developers or for a less technical audience
• Thoroughly enjoys the art and discipline of software development
