Scope of Responsibilities  

  Development of embedded, real-time software for telecommunications system.  Candidate will design, implement, and maintain various protocol features on core optical switch product.

Specific Responsibilities  

·    Independently perform assignments with instructions as to the general results expected;  receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and development projects in the following efforts:

·         Analyze, design, and develop improvements to existing optical routing and signaling software. 

·         Diagnose and solve complex or unusual software problems in this area.

·         Support full life-cycle development including requirements specification, design, coding, unit testing, and supporting integration and validation as required.

·         Develop technical documentation in support of product development and release.

·         Special duties and projects as requested by the supervisor.

Candidate Profile  

·         Real-time, embedded development in C++

·         Experience with developing scalable signaling/routing software and associated functions such as call-processing, setup/tear down of large number of connections in a mesh network, routing/signaling feature enhancements.

·         Aptitude for team oriented development.

·         Strong documentation and technical writing skills.

·         Commitment to quality software development methods and principles.

·         Interest and proficiency in developing maintainable software.

·         Thoroughness in development and testing.

Desired Characteristics  

  ·  Understanding of ATM and PNNI protocol, development experience in PNNI in a embedded environment is a plus. 

·  Experience with SONET/SDH

·  Experience in IP/MPLS protocols (OSPF, RSVP, etc.)

Education / Experience  

·         Software development experience (4-6 years) in a product development role with skills/familiarity with the following:

·         Microcomputer architecture, RTOS(VxWorks) experience a plus

·         Data communications including TCP/IP and other network protocols

·         Strong C++ skills required

·         Technical degree (BSCS or BSEE preferred) or equivalent experience.

·         4-6 years relevant experience.
