The Healthcare business of Thomson Reuters provides insights -- information, benchmarks and analysis -- that enable organizations to manage costs, improve performance and enhance the quality of healthcare.
Plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and deliver all application development related activities, including design, development, unit testing and documentation.
- Perform hands on development and coding of application components using Java, C and Windows/Unix shell scripts.
- Mentor and challenge other software engineers and other team members, while growing your own technical, functional and leadership skills.
- Act as backup to technical lead on proprietary methodology engine and work collaboratively with that lead to design and develop the next generation of that engine using leading edge technologies.
- Adhere to product engineering methodology while working collaboratively with a variety of product teams (applied research, project management, quality assurance, configuration management, product management).
- Perform detailed documentation of design, development, testing and deployment activities necessary to ensure team knowledge sharing.
- Transform business requirements into comprehensive solutions using the appropriate methods, tools and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Outstanding communication skills (oral, written and presentation) and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to lead a technical team to quality, on-time completion of deliverables is essential.
- Must be driven and eager, with an ability and willingness to learn and implement new technologies and software development techniques.
- 4-6 years of practical experience building applications using object oriented languages such as Java or C++.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases, particularly Oracle
- Experience with Java development tools.
- Experience with Windows, UNIX and Linux scripting.
- Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, support).
- Ability to mentor and motivate junior engineers.
- Ability to accurately estimate application development tasks.
- Experience with advanced software design methodologies including RUP, UML, OOA/D.
- Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
