Senior Software Engineer

L-3 Communications, Applied Signal & Image Technology (L-3 ASIT) is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer for our Linthicum Heights, MD location. The Sr. Software Engineer will be responsible for the design and analysis of software for control and processing of electronic systems. Software includes: real time embedded code and higher-level applications code. The Sr. Software Engineer will translate higher-level requirements from the systems engineering group and generate detailed design requirements, system architectures and detailed designs. Will perform all design activities in accordance with applicable software design processes and comply with CMMI established standards. The Sr. Software Engineer will support full life cycle development with a proficiency in C, C++, C#, Visual Basic and MATLAB.  The job requires the development of embedded software including UNIX and VxWorks development plus Mercury Systems G4 development.

Duties:

·         Responsible for cost, schedule and technical performance of passive and/or active airborne, mobile, shipboard and ground-based signal intelligence (SIGINT) Products & Systems.

·         Interfaces with customers/vendors to determine needs, problems and capabilities and recommends appropriate solutions. 

·         Demonstrates sound engineering judgment.  Designs should anticipate the next generation of products, be cost-effective, easy manufacturability, testable and well documented.

·         Participates in high-level architecture designs as a part of the design review team.

·         Responsible for managing system requirements capture and flow down.

·         Supports risk assessments and develops risk mitigation plans.

·         Provides the design and analysis in particular discipline that meets specifications and is well documented in a timely manner.

·         Responsible for developing (or supporting) engineering test plans, testing, analysis of test data and development of test reports.

·         May monitor as well as develop technical requirements, and evaluate and pass final judgment on designs and implementation developed by other engineers.

·         Works closely with quality assurance in identifying bugs and building fixes.

·         Provides technical expertise to peers or subordinates through mentoring or supervising other engineering staff.

·         Supports proposal development, generating high level trade-offs, design approaches, technical write-ups and engineering estimates. 

Qualifications:

·         BS in Electrical, Software or Computer Engineering or a related field.

·         Minimum 6 years of directly related experience and/or training.

§  Minimum of 6 years development in C, C++, C# and/or Visual Basic.

§  Minimum of 4 years developing software for SIGINT/COMINT Systems.

·         Working knowledge with VHF/UHF receivers required.

·         TS clearance is preferred. Must be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
