Senior Software Engineer/Ruby on Rails
Affinity Labs, a property of Monster Worldwide, is seeking a rock star Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to help us build Monster.com's fast-growing, career-oriented portals. We have a great team of RoR developers in place with a very diverse set of skills and want someone who can engage and challenge us to be even better. This is a fantastic opportunity to own and lead the development of a highly robust, scalable and high performance web infrastructure for our customers! The engineering team that you'll join has tons of talent and you'll be expected to bring it as well. We'll want you to show off your goods and will give you honest feedback when you do. At the same time, we hope you'll do the same. It's how you get better, its how we get better. Writing code in a vacuum is just plain lame. The position is to help evolve a platform that is used to launch/support dozens of customizable social/career-oriented portals. You'll be asked to both develop the features as well as give them real thought and consideration from a user-perspective. We don't write 30 page functional specs on our features, so you'll be relied on to help ensure we're building something of real value. Take ownership, don't just code. * Ruby, Rails * MVC, Agile, REST, TDD/BDD * Mac OS X, Unix, Apache, mySQL * Web Standards, XHTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, Prototype jQuery, JSON * 4-year bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent * 7+ years of software development, preferably using Internet technologies * 2+ years with production Ruby on Rails development * Passionate about the Web and productivity * Great communicator: verbal + written * Very strong initiative and creative thinking Who are we?
