Senior Software Engineer – G eospatial /GIS

A Senior Software Engineer participates in the design, architecture, development and maintenance of large-scale national and international geocoding/geospatial/GIS applications that support multiple systems at Yellowpages.com. He/she is expected to be highly skilled and proficient in programming and software engineering, and deliver results and innovation to achieve the project milestones.
Responsibilities : :
· Design and implement solutions for high-performance geocoding/geospatial services using commercial, open source and homegrown tools.
· Document code and system designs.
· Provide application support and systems monitoring and maintenance.
· Perform research and analysis on needs and possibilities.
· Keep abreast of latest technologies and trends.
· Lead and mentor junior staff members.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 6 years programming experience.
· Minimum of 3 years of geocoding/geospatial technologies, applications, and algorithms experience.
· Strong experience with Linux/Unix, Perl, Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Shell Scripting.
· Strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities, detailed oriented, self starter.
· Dedicated to achieving project schedules and milestones.
· Ability to work in a team environment.
· Experience with databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
· Open source experience and contributions.
· Fluent in multiple programming languages and ability to learn new skills quickly.
· Experience with large heterogeneous datasets
· Experience with GIS data and applications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field is required
