We are looking for the right person to become part of our winning team in the following position:

Senior Staff Accountant

The Senior Staff Accountant serves as a lead associate within the General Accounting Area regarding monthly closings, account analyses, and statements/reporting requirements. This position also acts as a key contact to internal and external customers regarding financial and accounting-related requests, issues, and inquiries and provides financial and analytical support to the organization.


DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Serve as a lead in the monthly financial closing process. Review entries for appropriateness and provide exception reports. Review and assess exception reports from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective and investigate key variances and unexpected results.
  • Develop and maintain financial schedules and analyses to reconcile general ledger account balances. Assist in the monthly production of financial statements and management reports.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel software and AS-400 system query utilities to design models and applications to further streamline accounting processes, enhance data accuracy, and reduce the level of manual intervention and paper flow.
  • Serve as a lead associate in General Accounting by providing training and guidance to new General Accounting staff members. In addition, provide support to other Finance Department associates as well as field personnel.
  • Support quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes. 
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree with a major in a business field (preferably Accounting) or equivalent of education and experience; CPA designation a plus
  • Minimum of 4 years of financial accounting experience with progressive responsibility
  • Strong analytical, organization, and communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel as well as mainframe query experience required
  • Experience in web-based reporting and planning software preferred
  • Proven understanding of mainframe accounting systems (preferably in an AS-400 environment)
