Senior Staff Accountant

About the Job


Overall Responsibilities   


The Senior Staff Accountant’s primary responsibility is to perform general accounting function. This position also functions in a support role to the Controller and training accounting associates and on-site staff on accounting policies and procedures.


 


Essential Functions/Responsibilities


 


·         Ensures month-end closes, preparation and entry of monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations, are being completed promptly and accurately.


·         Review’s financial statements to ensure accuracy.


·         Maintains balance sheet schedules for utilization in the correct reporting of monthly financials and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.


·         Responsible for communicating on a daily basis with internal customers and third party vendors to relay financial information as well as ensure understanding of various financial reports.


·         Assists auditors in performing year-end audits of financial statements.


·         Assists Controller with training accounting associates and on-site staff on proper accounting policies and procedures.


·         Complies with all Company National Standards, applicable health and safety rules and regulations, as well as applicable local, state, and federal laws.


·         Performs other tasks as directed by any person authorized to give such instructions or assignments.

Ensures compliance to company policies, procedures, standardized processes and best practices along with federal, state, local regulations for the region. As well as follow and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).


 


QUALIFICATIONS:


Education and/or Experience


 


Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required for this position.


 


·         Minimum of two to five years experience in accounting and financial statement preparation.


·         Must have experience with Great Plains software


Other Requirements


·         Ability to be at work on a regular and consistent basis; overtime may be required.

·         Ability to use a personal computer and working knowledge of email, Microsoft Word, Excel and accounting software systems.


·         Ability to perform advanced mathematical and accounting functions.


·         Ability to follow and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).


·         Ability to perform cash forecasting, planning and management.


·         Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to relate to others.


·         Professional verbal and written communication skills.


·         Ability to multi-task, set and meet goals, consistently meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
