Senior Storage Engineer

This position is located in our OK, Oklahoma City facility



General Dynamics Information Technology is actively seeking a Senior Storage Engineer with significant experience in Storage Area Network (SAN) computing environments. The candidate in this position will be responsible for server and SAN infrastructure. This includes assessing, implementing, documenting, and supporting complex network and storage systems infrastructure environments. SAN architecting, and project planning is a plus.

Essential Duties
• Set up and install new storage appliances, servers and network equipment
• Identify and resolve storage area network and related system performance problems
• Implement storage technologies at remote customer sites
• Perform troubleshooting activities on SAN, fibre channel, and and server environment
• Administer SAN systems running: EMC, IBM, or NetApp storage hardware and software
• Troubleshoot storage, server and management station software and hardware
• Perform hardware upgrades and swaps
• Interface with external venders as necessary
• Actively participate in planning, coordinating, and implementing storage operating systems and applications
• Maintain knowledge base of current technology with continuous self study
• Perform other duties as assigned

TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Storage Area Networks, iSCSI, and NAS Solutions (NetApp, IBM, EMC, and other vendors)
• Microsoft - Windows Server
• Microsoft - Active Directory
• Microsoft - Virtual Server
• Microsoft - Windows Desktop Operating Systems
• Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or the equivalent combination of education, technical training and/or work experience

QUALIFICATIONS
• At least 5 to 8 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities described above
• Storage area networking knowledge and experience in storage network architecture and implementation including network operating systems (NOS), network design, and directory services
• Network infrastructure knowledge and experience in SAN / LAN / WAN infrastructure technologies and implementation strategies
• Microsoft Windows experience including system design, implementation and management
• Ability to relay technical information to both technical and non technical personnel
• Strong written/verbal communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving or troubleshooting skills
• Excellent time management skills


Preferred certifications include NetApp, EMC, IBM Certified Storage Systems Engineer, SNIA Certified Storage Network Engineer (SCSN-E), and related HP and Dell Hardware Certifications.

Must have demonstrated the ability to timely, appropriately, and effectively deal with customer issues and conflict. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain positive relationships with customers, internal and external.

Travel is estimated at 10%

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security Clearance is required upon hire.
