Velcro USA Inc., the leading manufacturer of hook and loop fastening systems, is currently seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer. The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will manage relationships within the Velcro USA Inc. supply base to ensure the highest quality product possible is delivered to Velcro USA Inc. The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will ensure delivered product quality through management of raw material suppliers and facilitate new product introduction efforts through identification and qualification of new raw material suppliers and work with qualification teams on material qualification.


 


Daily functions includes acting as the main liaison between VUSA and its suppliers on any quality related issues and provide technical support for the development of raw material specifications and inspection methods/sampling plans to ensure quality prior to delivery to VUSA docks. Responsible for supplier selection and on-going assessments of new suppliers and raw materials for maintenance of Approved Suppliers List. Conduct investigations of material non-conformances attributed to VUSA supply base, and coordinating and completing internal investigation and supplier root cause, along with corrective action activities. Monitor supplier performance and implement appropriate controls including supplier audits, supplier corrective requests (SCAR), and revising material specifications. Assist product development projects with supplier selection, supplier qualification, raw material assessment and qualifications. Work with supplier base on new product introduction activities, providing guidance on investigating and correcting quality problems, quality systems, and quality system audits. Assist in the development of and approval of supplier PPAP and supporting documentation when required. Utilize Six Sigma methodology to assist suppliers in the development and implementation of manufacturing process control systems. Manage supplier documentation including corrective action plans, SCAR responses, ISO/TS certification documentation, certificates of conformance, and continuous improvement plans. Direct sampling inspection plans, first article evaluations, and testing of incoming raw materials and purchased parts to ensure conformance to raw materials specifications and standards.


 


The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent related work experience. Five plus years experience in a Supplier Quality role with quality auditing experience. Strong knowledge of ISO/TS 16949 technical specification. Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization and present technical information clearly and concisely; strong report writing skills are required. Ability to travel 30%-50% of the time, both internationally and domestic. Ability to build and foster relationships externally in the supply base, and self pace learning including book, web-base and classroom participation. Desired: Knowledge of Six Sigma and ability to mentor supply base in application of associated statistical and problem solving techniques. Experience in the Textile and/or Plastic Extrusion fields.
