Senior System Administrator
About the Job
Stellar Science is a growing Albuquerque-based scientific software development company seeking an experienced Linux and Windows system administrator to manage our corporate information technology infrastructure and support external customers. We conduct research and develop interactive software in the fields of computer vision, image enhancement, computational electromagnetics, three-dimensional visualization, scene simulation, and thermal modeling.
Position duties:
- Uphold the security posture of the company network and servers
- Support and maintain the software development infrastructure
- Monitor system administration and network security trends
- Identify and deploy new tools and hardware to improve the software development infrastructure
- Modify and improve third party packages as required to meet unique requirements
- Support software developers as well as novice users
- Respond quickly to system outages, restoring services as rapidly as possible
- Assist software development team with development of software installation packages
Education and experience:
- B.S. in computer science, computer engineering or related field
- Administration of Windows XP and Vista clients
- Support of high availability Linux servers in heterogeneous environment
- Be productive on a wide variety of UNIX platforms
- Familiarity with modifying and compiling open source packages from source
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, including protocols, security concerns, and routing
- Management of Cisco hardware, to include routers and firewalls
- Apache, MySQL, Bind, Postfix, OpenLDAP, Subversion, Git
- DNS, SMTP, HTTPS, DHCP, Kerberos, SSH, LDAP, S/MIME, SSL, IPSEC
Candidates must:
- Be top-notch, responsible, self-motivated, honest, able to work well independently and in small teams
- Have strong professional recommendations
- Be able to rapidly learn new tools, and techniques as needed to meet mission requirements
- Be U.S. citizens (due to our work supporting the Department of Defense)
- Consent to a background investigation to obtain a security clearance
- Be willing to work at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque
