| Senior Systems Engineer |

Description: Eaton Corporation's Heavy Duty Truck Transmission facility in Shenandoah, Iowa has an opening for a Senior Systems Engineer.
The primary function of this highly visible position is to maintain systems and manufacturing engineering objectives for the various assembly operations. System maintenance includes system definition, integration and maintenance of Poka Yokes, creation of specifications, and implementation of systems.
The Senior Systems Engineer will participate in new divisional product launch teams including product integration and implementation.
Essential job functions include: - Maintaining, supporting and modifying plant automation. - Leading development of process improvements and poka yokes. - Assisting with divisional initiatives such as new plant start-up and system upgrades. - Managing the Systems group and other business groups as directed. - Defining system improvements and upgrades. - Leading/participating in Kaizen and setup reduction events. - Ensuring standardization of product and engineering processes. - Collaborating with the Information Technology department to design and implement ndustrial network solutions. - Interacting and communicating with shop floor supervisors and associates to support system, identify and resolve issues. - Developing and maintaining automated controls systems. - Developing and maintaining DC torque equipment, PLC controls, Pick to Light systems, electric testing systems, test stands. - Documenting and implementing product and production engineering changes. - Identifying and implementing manufacturing process improvements to achieve plant goals related to first pass yield, OEE, Safety, quality and other scorecard metrics. - Introducing new technology in the form of poka yokes, new machines, processes, and control systems. - Providing technical leadership and solutions - Maintaining and updating technical documentation - Continually evaluating safety, ergonomics, productivity, quality and improving processes - Providing and implementing training that will enable personnel to better perform their departmental functions - Implementing and coordinating established maintenance controls to see that they are followed as they relate to physical plant and production operation - Initiating and formalizing cost savings at both plant and division levels - Editing programs as needed for equipment to meet part specifications - Evaluating new equipment run-off and current equipment performance using SPC - Process development and improvement including implementation of new processes, equipment, safety and ergonomic improvements - Driving cost reduction: production/tooling costs, set-up reduction - Preventative maintenance on automated equipment

Qualifications: Candidates must have a proven track record in systems engineering. Must have demonstrated hands-on work approach and examples of hands-on involvement in prior work positions.
Other requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Masters preferred - 5 years experience in PLC controls, SCADA, and Network infrastructures - Experience with Benham Assembly Management System or similar SCADA suite - Thorough knowledge of Allen Bradley, Siemens, GEFanuc PLCs and HMIs - Knowledge of industry practices and norms, design tools and techniques will be a plus - Thorough knowledge of Allen Bradley/ModBUS communication protocols, and OPC client-server Technology - Thorough knowledge of Microsoft SQL server, Transact-SQL queries. - Experience installing and programming vision systems (Cognex or DVT preferred) - Experience installing and programming D/C torque tools (Atlas Copco or similar) - Good working knowledge of application packages and languages such as Visual Basic 6.0 - Knowledge of (AutoBom), Visual Basic.NET, Microsoft ASP.NET, C, Minitab, AutoCAD Electrical - Knowledge of NEC, environmental laws and O.S.H.A. rules and regulation - Ability to work in a cross functional environment to solve problems - Ability to solve production problems for safety, quality and efficiency
