Description:
Provide the necessary Technical Writing skills and expertise to new equipment delivery programs to ensure optimum technical manual support solutions are recommended and implemented. The role will include direct interfaces with project teams, engineering teams, commercial teams and external customers.
The Technical Writer shall, as delegated by the Program Manager carry out, or assist in the execution of, the following tasks:
• Provide Customer Support Technical Publication expertise to a range of existing and future projects, which includes writing and managing all customer-facing documentation and web-based application platforms.
• Act as an advocate for customers. Work with designers and developers to recommend changes to the product and insert end-user guidance where appropriate.
• Work with the Customer Service team and provide subject-matter publication support to training programs.
• 25% worldwide travel may be required
Requirements:
• 4+ years experience in publications standards
• MUST possess experience in the application of ASD S1000D to aerospace, marine or land systems.
• Proficient/in the use of a variety of desktop publishing tools such as: Adobe Framemaker/ Abortext Epic/Xmetal.
• Working knowledge of IETMS and MIL-STD’s including 38784 and S87268A would be a plus!
• Ability to travel on an unlimited/unrestricted basis worldwide and visit military repair facilities.
• Familiarity with online publishing protocols including content-management publishing products is essential.
• Must be a proven self-starter with demonstrated creative instincts and able to interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required with a major in English, Journalism or Communications or equivalent experience
