Biothane, LLC, of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies (VWS) is currently seeking a Senior Technologist. The position is located out of our Camden, NJ office (near Philadelphia, PA).
Biothane is a Design / Build Company in the Water Treatment and Energy Recovery Industry.
Biothane’s technologies are currently in use at more than 200 full scale industrial water treatment plants in more than 40 countries worldwide. With over 30 years of experience, Biothane provides many types of water treatment applications. Our market is increasingly active in the Energy Recovery Sector, with recovery of methane from Biothane facilities providing for both fuel and generation of electricity. With its headquarters in Camden, NJ, Biothane also has offices in the U.K., Netherlands, China, Russia, and Indonesia.
The position of Senior Technologist is intended to anchor the technology expertise existing within Biothane, LLC to insure that process designs are optimized for particular applications and that the products offered by Biothane remain at the forefront of the industry. The successful candidate will effectively interact with Veolia’s R&D centers worldwide to carry out applied research that maintains Biothane’s cutting edge technologies. The successful candidate will carry out in-depth mass balances using available modeling tools to develop and validate that the process solution(s) offered is the best available to our customer. The employee will utilize all available Veolia resources to improve upon existing products while developing new ones to broaden Biothane’s scope.
The successful candidate should have Eight (8) plus years of experience in the design of biological wastewater treatment systems. Specific experience in the design of anaerobic digester systems is highly desired. A Master of Science degree in a science/technology or engineering field is preferred.
The successful candidate should have working knowledge of high-rate UASB / EGSB (or equivalent) anaerobic treatment processes; CSTR / contact anaerobic treatment processes; anaerobic lagoon (bulk volume) technologies; municipal solids digestion; biogas and sludge handling; laboratory analytical methods; mass balances; and digester system operations.
Additional experience in aerobic membrane bioreactor technology, activated sludge aerobic treatment, SBR technologies, nitrification / denitrification processes, extended aeration processes, trickling filter / media suspended growth processes, general wastewater treatment design, biological scrubbing technology, landfill technology, and carbon footprint optimization methodologies will be considered.
The employee must be able to obtain a TWIC card; be willing to travel approximately 15-20% of the time and supervise other technologists.
